Bio:
Dr Monika Rogowska-Stangret is a Doctor of Humanities; she is currently working on a project for the National Programme for the Development of the Humanities at the Institute of Philosophy (University of Warsaw). A recipient of the Kościuszko Foundation Scholarship and WUS Austria and ERSTE Stiftung (as part of the “PATTERNS Lectures” programme), Dr Rogowska-Stangret was also a member of the Management Committee on “New Materialism: Networking European Scholarship on ‘How Matter Comes to Matter’, on a grant funded by European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST). She is the author of the book “Ciało — poza innością i tożsamością. Trzy figury ciała w filozofii współczesnej [The Body — beyond otherness and identity. The three figures of the body in contemporary philosophy] (Gdańsk, 2016), and co-editor of the collection “Feministic new materialisms: situated cartographies” (Lublin, 2018). She has co-edited two editions of the “Philosophical and Literary Review” (2011, 2017). Dr Rogowska-Stangret translated Naomi Wolf’s “The Beauty Myth” into Polish (2014), as well as articles by Judith Butler and Elisabeth Grosz. In 2016, she organised the 7th Annual Conference on the New Materialisms: Performing Situated Knowledges: Space, Time, Vulnerability at the PAN Institute for Philosophy and Sociology.
