Students of the Multimedia Studio and Kyubu Gallery would like to invite you to an exhibition PANOPTICON (COME CLOSER).

The opening will take place on January 25 at 1 PM in the Kyubu Gallery, PJAIT.

PANOPTICON (COME CLOSER) is an interactive installation. Visitors to the exhibition are monitored by cameras and their image then becomes part of the installation. The viewer can choose the places they want to observe (spy on). The project uses unsupervised live-stream webcams from selected locations around the world to monitor unsuspecting people.

Project theme: Observation/Surveillance.

We are constantly being watched, via surveillance, apps, etc. In planning our exhibition on surveillance, we analyzed research that shows that the act of observation is associated with pleasure. The project demonstrates this relationship. The interactive installation was inspired, among other things, by Shoshana Zuboff’s book The Age of Surveillance Capitalism. We also focused on the work of Krzysztof Wodiczko and different types of communication.
