Bio:
Elżbieta Gnyp graduated from the National College of Fine Arts in Zamość. She received her diploma with distinction from the National School of Fine Arts in Poznań in 1988 and attained her master’s degree at the Faculty of History at the University of Warsaw in 1991. She has been lecturing at the Faculty of New Media Arts at PJAIT since 2010. The scope of Gnyp’s creative output includes painting, drawing, book design, and art photography. The author of more than a dozen solo exhibitions, Gnyp has participated in over 100 joint exhibitions in Poland and abroad (Italy, France, Russia). She is also interested selected issues connected with art criticism and has authored over 100 texts on art and culture. Gnyp has curated more than 80 exhibitions of contemporary Polish art (among others) since 2006. She is the initiator and curator of a cycle of international exhibitions (the Leśmian Art Biennale). In 2000, she participated in the Polish Culture Congress in Warsaw. A recipient of the silver Cross of Merit (2002) and two-time winner of the M. Derecki Journalism Contest (SDP Lublin, 2004 and 2005), Elżbieta Gnyp was also awarded a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2007) and received the Lubielskie Marshal’s Award (2010), the Mayor of Zamość Award (2004 and 2017), and was named Zamość Cultural Organizer of 2009, Zamość Cultural Ambassador of 2013. She earned an honorary badge of merit for Service to the Lubielskie Region (2010) and Service to Polish Culture (2012).
