Bio:
Dr Anna Klimczak studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań (now the Arts University) from 1993-1998. She received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Art (1997/98) and was the recipient of the Mayor of Poznań’s Art Award (1999). Dr Klimczak has produced many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions and art festivals, including the Biennale d’Issy in France, Mediations Biennale in Poznań, SIEĆ – Art of Dialogue 2, and the Profile Foundation in Warsaw.
Dr Klimczak creates installations, art spaces, video productions, and performance activities. Her art has its roots in classical drawing, the conventions of which she endeavours to both advance and break. From 1999-2008, Dr Klimczak lectured at the Koszalin Polytechnic, where she simultaneously ran the students’ gallery (“Schody”). Since 2009, she has worked at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw, where she heads the Multimedia Workshop for master’s degree studies (Faculty of New Media Arts). From 2014-2018, she was the president of the Art&Innovation Space Foundation. She lives in Warsaw.
