Prof. Piotr Lech studied at the UMCS Institute for Art Education in Lublin from 1974-1978, where he received his diploma in graphic art from the workshop of Prof. Danuta Kołwzan-Nowicka. In 1984 and 1988, he undertook his arts traineeship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, in the Department of Graphic Art under Prof. M. Rojewski, and the Department of Lithography under Prof. R. Artymowski. Since 1979, Prof. Lech has worked at the UMCS Institute for Art Education in Lublin, at the lithography workshop. In May 1994, he became a 2nd degree lecturer at the Department of Graphic Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Since 1995, he has led the lithography workshop as a 2nd degree lecturer.
In 2000, Prof. Lech became head of the Graphic Design and Lithography Workshop and, in 2003 and 2006, director of the UMCS Institute for Fine Arts. Since 2009, he has also been working at the Polish-Japanese Academy for Information Technology. He attained the title of Doctor of Fine Arts in 2012.
His artistic work involves workshop-based graphic art (mainly lithography), computer-based graphic art and drawing.
